"Family Life on the Farm" Program at Mono Basin Historical Society Meeting
Chris Spiller will present a slide talk, "Family Life on the Farm" at the Mono Basin Historical Society meeting on Monday August 6. Come to the Lee Vining Community Center at 6 PM for a potluck dinner and short business meeting; the program begins at 7 PM. All are welcome to this free event. Mono Basin’s sagebrush today hides the history of the families who worked farms and ranches in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Supplying the nearby mining towns, amid snowstorms, high winds and a short growing season, was a family effort. Chris Spiller works for the Bodie Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Bodie, Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve and Grover Hot Springs State Parks.
